STC’s recruit killed in Abyan explosions

ABYAN, Nov. 25 (YPA) – A recruit of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) faction was killed on Saturday and 3 others were injured in a series of explosions that rocked Modiyah district of Abyan province, south of Yemen.

Sources familiar with the matter said that unknown armed men believed to belong to the terrorist elements detonated 3 explosive devices during the passage of a military vehicle belonging to the STC’s factions east of Omran Valley.

Local leaders from Abyan tribes accused the STC of creating al-Qaeda and terrorism due to their regional practices and the exclusion and marginalization of Abyan’s people in retaliation for what happened during the past decades, the last of which was the dismissal of 400 recruits from the STC’s factions.

The violations of the armed recruits that the STC brought in from Dhalea and Yafa in Lahj were extended against the people of Abyan and Mudiyah by breaking into their houses under the pretext of searching for wanted persons, and taking dozens of them to their own prisons.
