EU: Normalization between Israel, Arab countries did not bring peace

BRUSSELS, Nov. 06 (YPA) – The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said that everyone thought that normalization between “Israel” and Arab countries would bring peace, but that did not happen.

This came while commenting on the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

Borrell affirmed that the tragedy that “we are witnessing in the Middle East is the result of a collective political and moral failure.” He warned that extremist forces in the occupied territories want to end the Palestinian presence in the West Bank.

He also stressed that the Europeans are facing a test of their credibility and that they must “provide more than humanitarian support” to Palestine.

The Zionist occupation’s war against the Gaza Strip entered its second month amid unprecedented bombing last night, which resulted in dozens of martyrs and wounded and led to widespread destruction. This coincided with the occupation forces cutting off telecommunications and Internet services in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, Borrell said that he was “appalled” by the large number of victims of the Israeli bombing of the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza. He called on the warring parties to respect international rules of war.

Heads of 18 UN organizations and agencies, in a rare joint statement regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, have called for “an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons”, expressing their anger at the number of civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip, which amounted to about 10,000 martyrs, about half of whom were children.
