Ship transporting food, fuel to Socotra sinks

SOCOTRA, Oct. 24 (YPA) – The ship “Saqr Sherwin”, which supplies the people of the Yemeni Socotra Archipelago, with food supplies and household gas, sank due to Cyclone “Tej,” which reached the coasts of Mahra and Hadramout provinces during the past hours.

Informed sources reported that the ship, which weighs 70 tons and is worth approximately 450,000 UAE dirhams and owned by the citizen Najem Muhammad Abdullah Zaabnot, was destroyed while it was in the port of Socotra last Sunday.

Activists from the people of Socotra demanded that the pro-UAE authorities on the island and the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition compensate the citizen Zaabnot, who has no other property.
