Ministry of Fisheries announces closure of shrimp fishing season

HODEIDA, Oct. 08 (YPA) – The Ministry of Fisheries announced the closure of the coastal shrimp fishing season in the territorial waters of the Red Sea region starting from October 9, 2023 until further notice.

In a decision issued, the ministry called on all those who practice shrimp fishing in this area to raise their fishing equipment, warning against practicing any shrimp fishing activity during the closing period of the season.

The General Authority for fisheries in the Red Sea called for the coastal shrimp and the quantities stored in the exporters’ refrigerators to be limited and the results to be submitted to the ministry.

It pointed out that any fresh or frozen quantities of shrimp will be confiscated during the (ban period) by the team tasked with landing on the field, calling on all traders and sellers of fish and marine life to abide by the decision and not to violate it.
