Trial of 39 defendants in case of targeting “Grand Hall” in Sanaa begins

SANAA, Oct. 08 (YPA) – The trial of 39 defendants in the crime of targeting the Grand Hall in Sanaa by Saudi-led coalition aircraft began on Sunday.

The Specialized Criminal Court in the capital, Sanaa, headed by the President of the Court, Judge Yahya Al-Mansour, held its session, during which the indictment and the list of evidentiary evidence were read out and the accused, Ibrahim Muhammad Ali Al-Nuaimi, was confronted with them, while the rest of the defendants are still fugitives from justice.

The list of defendants from the coalition countries, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the United States of America, Britain, the Zionist entity, Bahrain, and Sudan, included 37 defendants, most of whom were senior leaders in those countries.

The prosecution accused this group of committing the crime of genocide by causing two explosions by dropping two “Mark MK82” bombs, weighing 241 kilograms each, by warplanes on the Grand Hall on 50th Street in the capital, Sanaa, while hundreds of citizens were present who had come to offer their condolences to the Al-Ruwaishan family.

The prosecution stated that the 38th defendant, Ali Salah Bilal Al-Awadhi, and the 39th defendant, Ibrahim Muhammad Ali Al-Nuaimi, helped Saudi Arabia and its allies in the war on Yemen by recruiting themselves to communicate with it with the intention of targeting Yemenis in public and private institutions and wedding and funeral halls.

The two explosions caused the destruction of the hall and its entire contents and sparked a fire in it, which resulted in the death of 151 people, their bodies being charred and torn into scattered pieces, and the wounding of 799 people with severe injuries and permanent disabilities, while more than 15 various cars parked in the hall’s courtyard were destroyed, and homes adjacent to the hall were partially destroyed, according to the attached reports and evidence.

In implementation of that agreement, the 39th accused communicated with the 38th accused to raise the coordinates for the Grand Hall, and the hall was targeted by the Saudi coalition aircraft, and this would harm the republic’s military and political status, according to the indictment.

The court assigned the prosecution to announce the defendants fleeing from justice and to postpone the session until October 17 to complete the trial procedures in accordance with the law.
