500 killed in Afghanistan earthquake

According to ErfanullahWORLD, Oct. 08 (YPA) – The death toll from the earthquake that struck Afghanistan on Saturday has risen to 500 people, Reuters reported on Sunday.

According to Erfanullah Sharafzoi, spokesperson for the Afghan Red Crescent, the earthquake that struck the west of the country yesterday, claimed the lives of at least 500 people.

Earlier, AFP reported, citing an official in disaster management in Afghanistan’s Herat province, that the earthquake left about 120 dead and more than a thousand injured.

The quake’s epicenter struck 42 km northwest of the city of Herat, a city of 272,000 people, and at a depth of 10 kilometers.
