Activists launch online campaign to demand provision of electricity in Taiz

TAIZ, Oct. 05 (YPA) – An online campaign, using the hashtag #Taiz_Tafy (Taiz is without electricity), has been launched to demand the restart of Osifra power station by local authorities loyal to the Saudi-led coalition to provide electricity for the city of Taiz.

The campaign carried out by activists on social media revealed that local authorities continue to ignore people’s suffering and leave them to injustice and exploitation by commercial station owners.

Most of the residents of the city of Taiz depend on solar energy and rechargeable batteries to meet their daily electricity requirements in light of the absence of the public electricity and the pro-coalition government’s continuing to ignore their repeated calls over the past nine years.
