ADEN, Oct. 03 (YPA) – A group of unions were staged on Tuesday a protest rally in front of the gates of Maashiq Palace in the city of Aden, south of Yemen.
In a protest rally, the Syndicate of Faculty Members and Teaching Assistants, and the Union of Workers and Employees of the Universities of Aden, Lahj, Abin, Shabwa, demand the coalition-backed government for their financial and academic rights.
They affirmed that the comprehensive strike that began on the first day of the start of the academic year would continue.
The protesters said that this rally would be followed by escalation steps and other protests, as the next rallies to be in front of the headquarters of the coalition, to which “this country was handed over.
The participants called on Aden government to launch financial settlements and raise the wages and salaries of academics in a manner equivalent to the high cost of living and the economic deterioration occurring due to the continuing collapse of the national currency against foreign currencies.
