14 killed in Brazil’s Amazon plane crash

WORLD, Sept. 17 (YPA) – At least 14 people were killed when a small plane crashed on Saturday in Barcelos, an inland city of Amazonas state in northern Brazil, Amazonas governor Wilson Lima said.

The Governor Wilson Lima said in a post on his X platform that 12 passengers, the pilot, and the co-pilot were killed in the crash.

Brazilian media reports confirmed there were no survivors, but officials did not immediately respond to requests for further details.

According to the news site “G1”, 18 passengers were on board the doomed plane “EMP-110”, equipped with two engines and manufactured by the Brazilian company “Embraer”.

The plane was reportedly heading from the state capital Manaus to Barcelos for a flight that takes about 90 minutes.
