Islah loyalists attack site of UAE-backed factions in Shabwa

SHABWA, Aug. 29 (YPA) – Gunmen loyal to the Islah Party, believed to be members of al-Qaeda, bombed on Tuesday a military site of UAE-funded “Shabwa Defense” in the Al-Saeed area, south of Shabwa province, in eastern Yemen.
Informed sources said, “Terrorist elements attacked the Al-Qana’a military site of the Shabwa Defense in the Al-Saeed district with a number of mortar shells.”
The source added that the attack was launched from areas controlled by loyalists of the Islah Party in the area, without mentioning any human or material losses resulting from the bombing.
Last September, the head of the Islah party, Muhammad al-Yadumi, indirectly threatened the Shabwa defense factions with long-term confrontations in Shabwa after the expulsion of the party’s militants from the city of Ataq, the center of the province, following the August 2022 confrontations.
