WORLD, Aug 28 (YPA) – The Libyan Government has suspended Foreign Minister Najla al-Mangoush shortly after news reports went viral that she met with her Israeli occupation’s counterpart Eli Cohen last week in Rome, despite the two countries having no formal relations.
Libyan Internal Security Service in Tripoli imposed a travel ban on al-Mangoush until she complies with the investigations. It also dismissed, in a statement, what was circulated about allowing her to travel.
According to the statement, Minister Najla al-Mangoush did not pass through the official channels at the port of Mitiga Airport.
The suspension comes after Libyan protesters set fire near the headquarters of the Council of Ministers of the Government of National Unity in the capital Tripoli, condemning al-Mangoush’s meeting with the Israeli foreign minister.
Protesters chanted slogans in support of the Palestinian cause, and rejected any Libyan communication with the Israeli government.
Demonstrators in the capital Tripoli also stormed the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs without clashes with the security services, demanding immediate dismissal and punishment of the minister.
