Sanaa accuses int’l organizations of intentionally mis-implementing humanitarian projects
SANAA, Aug. 20 (YPA) – The Ministry of Human Rights of the Sanaa government said on Saturday that the suffering of the Yemeni people is exacerbating in a way that raises a big question mark over the reality of international humanitarian work in Yemen.
In a statement on the occasion of International Humanitarian Day, the Ministry of Human Rights indicated that the poor implementation of humanitarian projects in Yemen is deliberate by international organizations.
The ministry affirmed the continued absence of transparency, accountability, and integrity in the aid of international organizations and that these organizations are evading their humanitarian responsibilities.
The statement pointed out that the restrictions imposed by the Saudi-led coalition on many goods and preventing them from entering the port of Hodeida, the main lifeline for Yemenis, still endanger the lives of citizens.
In its statement, the Ministry of Human Rights also denounced the role of the United Nations in supporting the coalition by signing a memorandum of understanding with the government loyal to the coalition regarding marine insurance on ships.
The statement criticized the international community’s silence on what is happening in the border areas of Saada province in terms of the ongoing killings due to the Saudi army’s repeated rocket and artillery attacks and direct targeting of civilians.
The Ministry’s statement stressed that the continued restriction of flights at Sanaa International Airport, the continued blockade of the port of Hodeida, the targeting of civilians, cutting the salaries of state employees, and the looting and confiscation of the country’s wealth are issues of priority for which humanitarian action should find appropriate solutions.
The Ministry of Human Rights called on the United Nations and international organizations to share mechanisms for implementing their humanitarian programs in Yemen with the National Salvation Government to achieve transparency.
