STC accuses pro-coalition “government” interior minister of smuggling al-Qaeda prisoners

SANAA, Aug. 19 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) accused on Saturday the Minister of Interior of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, Ibrahim Haidan, of smuggling al-Qaeda detainees in Sayoun city, Hadramout province, eastern Yemen.

The leading member of STC, Wadah bin Attiya, said in a post on his account on “X”, that there is “information about the involvement of the Minister of Interior, Ibrahim Haidan, in smuggling prisoners from the central prison in Sayoun.”

The pro-STC politicians believe that Saudi Arabia is providing support to terrorist groups in the areas of southern and eastern Yemen that are under the control of the coalition.

A number of prisoners, including ten leaders of the terrorist al-Qaeda organization, had escaped from a prison in the city of Sayoun, which is under the control of the Islah Party military factions allied with Saudi Arabia.
