Pro-coalition Prime Minister returns to Aden due to Saudi pressure on STC

ADEN, Aug 12 (YPA) – Moeen Abdul Malik, the head of the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, arrived in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden, informed sources reported on Saturday.

According to the sources, the return of Moeen Abdul Malik came as a result of Saudi pressure on the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is launching a campaign to dismiss Moeen Abdul Malik. The STC also accused pro-coalition Prime Minster of corruption.

The sources said that Ahmed Lamlas, pro-coalition Aden governor, received Moeen Abdul Malik at Aden airport coming from the Saudi capital Riyadh. This move was seen as if the STC is under Saudi pressure.

The sources pointed out that the return of Moeen Abdul Malik is a prelude to the return of the head of the “Presidential Leadership Council” Rashad Al-Alimi and the rest of the ministers to Aden after months of absence, despite the economic crises that are plaguing the Yemeni areas, which are under the control of the coalition.

The return of Moeen Abdul Malik came after sharp differences with the leaders of the STC due to the deterioration of electricity, water services and the collapse of local currency in the southern governorates, which reflected negatively on the suffering of citizens in all fields.
