Report: EU has delivered 223,800 artillery shells and 2.3,000 rockets to Ukraine

WORLD, Aug 12 (YPA) – The European Union (EU) said that over the past six months, it has delivered 223,800 artillery shells and 2.3,000 rockets to Ukraine with a total value of 1.1 billion euros.

The spokesman for the EU’s foreign policy chief, Peter Stano, confirmed that the EU had transferred to Ukraine 223,800 long-range self-propelled artillery munitions, precision-guided ammunition as well as mortar ammunition, and 2,300 rockets of various types, as part of the first part of a plan to supply it with one million artillery rounds.

The 27 member states have approved a 2-billion-euro ($2.18 billion) plan to boost their stockpiles and place joint orders for missiles in a bid to deliver 1 million missiles to Ukraine within 12 months.

However, the tally announced today puts the EU and its members far from their goal of providing one million shells by next spring, with several EU capitals questioning in February the ability to provide this amount of ammunition.

The European Union and its member states had previously announced that they had spent about 20 billion euros to supply Ukraine with weapons of all types since February 2022, while the United States had allocated until July 25 more than $ 43.7 billion for security assistance to Ukraine, according to the Pentagon.
