WORLD, Aug 12 (YPA) – A meeting of the chiefs of staff of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on the situation in Niger, which was supposed to take place today, has been postponed, AFP reported on Saturday.
The chiefs of staff of ECOWAS armies were due to meet in the Ghanaian capital Accra on Saturday, but the meeting was postponed for “technical reasons” without revealing the new date.
The meeting is being held in Accra in light of the decision made by leaders of ECOWAS, at their summit in Abuja on Thursday to deploy the organization’s “standby force” to restore President Mohamed Bazoum to power after he was ousted by a military coup on July 26.
