Meteorology warns of hot weather in desert, coastal areas

SANAA, Aug 11 (YPA) – The National Meteorology Center warned of very hot weather in the deserts and interior plateaus, where the maximum temperatures range between (36-43) degrees Celsius.

In its weather forecast on Friday, the center expected during the next 24 hours, that the weather will be hot and humid in the coastal areas and the Socotra archipelago, and temperatures range between 33-40 degrees.

The center advised residents in those areas not to be exposed directly and prolonged to sunlight during the day, and to drink sufficient amounts of water and refreshments.

Moreover, the center expected rains of varying intensity, some of which are heavy, may be accompanied by hail in parts of the provinces of northern Lahj, Taiz, Dhale, Ibb, Raymah, Dhamar, Mahweet and western Saada.

Rains also expected to hit the heights and plateaus of Abyan, Shabwa and Hadramout, western Mahra, and west to parts of the Tihama plain, while light to medium rain expected on parts of Bayda, Sanaa, Amran and Hajjah provinces, the center said.

It center called on citizens not to be in valleys and torrent passages in areas where rain is expected, to take shelter from thunderstorms, and not to use mobile phones.

The center also warned of high waves and sea turbulence around the Socotra archipelago and the southern and eastern coasts.
