SHABWA, July. 20 (YPA) – Al-Qaeda organization waged on Thuraday an attack in the oil-rich province of Shabwa, east of Yemen.
Source familier with the matter said members of Al-Qaeda targeted the UAE-backed “Shabwa Defense” factions in Al-Saeed district with a number of mortar shells.
In a statement issued at the beginning of this month, Al-Qaeda announced the launch of drone strikes and armed operations against the UAE-affiliated factions in the provinces of Abyan and Shabwa.
Al-Qaeda also claimed in the same statement its responsibility for the detonation of 3 explosive devices in Mudiyah district of Abyan province, killing “the staff of the first battalion in the so-called third brigade of support,” Jaber bin Abd al-Qawi al-Fahha al-Yafi’i, and wounding 7 others.
