Saudi Arabia deploys new defense systems on border with Yemen

SANAA, July 17 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia on Monday, began deploying new defense systems along the borders with Yemen.

Media outlets reported that Saudi forces transferred many air defense systems, including Patriot and Chinese-made defense systems, to the border provinces with Yemen, especially Jizan, Najran and Asir.

This is the first time that Saudi Arabia has deployed defense systems in those provinces since the start of the war on Yemen in March 2015.

It was not immediately clear whether the Saudi move was part of future defensive moves or a preparation for a military escalation.
