Saudi Arabia plans to remove key brigade of “Shabwa Defense” factions from Ataq

SHABWA, July 15 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia planned to remove one of the UAE’s military brigades in the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen, informed sources revealed on Friday.

According to the sources, the Riyadh seeks to remove the “Second Brigade of Shabwa Defense” affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), led by Wajdi Baoum Khalfi, due to the chaos caused by its elements in the city.

The coalition’s provincial security chief, Fouad al-Nasi, at the behest of Saudi Arabia, demanded that Ataq be subject to his gunmen’s control to secure the city.

The sources suggested that Saudi Arabia is seeking to deploy one of its brigades of “Dera Al-Watan” Forces in the city during the next stage.
