North Korea threatens to shoot down US reconnaissance planes

WORLD, July 10 (YPA) – North Korea has threatened to shoot down the United States’ reconnaissance planes in the event that they violate its airspace and cross into its territory.

The United States will pay a heavy price for its provocative aerial reconnaissance, which is carried out fiercely with the intrusion into our airspace without notice, Official Representative of the Ministry of Defense of the DPRK said in a statement.

“There is no guarantee that a shocking incident, such as a U.S. Air Force strategic reconnaissance aircraft being shot down over the East Sea, will not happen,” the official added.

“Now we are exercising the utmost patience and restraint, but there is a limit to all things and we are now teetering on the critical point when the US must be concerned,” he said.

The warning came after North Korean officials claimed that US reconnaissance planes had recently violated the country’s airspace near the east coast.
