Armed clashes erupt between tribes, pro-coalition forces in Marib

MARIB, July 08 (YPA) – Armed clashes erupted on Saturday between Abidah tribes and the Saudi-led coalition forces in the city of Marib, northeastern Yemen.

Tribal sources in Marib province told the “Yemeni Press Agency” that violent clashes broke out between tribesmen of the “Al-Damashiqah” tribe, one of the clans of the Abidah tribes, and the recruits of the “Sixth Military Region” loyal to the coalition in north of the city.

The sources indicated that the tribes launched an armed attack on a military post belonging to the pro-coalition forces between Al-Kanaes and Al-Samadah areas.

According to the sources, the tribes’ attack came as a protest against the killing of the citizen “Tawfiq Saleh Abdullah Qureh” by the pro-coalition recruits after he refused to pay the arbitrary levies imposed at the military point under the name of improvement.
