Saudi Arabia plans to establish council to run Aden

ADEN, July 01 (YPA) -Saudi Arabia seeks to form a new Adeni component aimed at the self-administration of the city, away from the factions of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), similar to the “Hadhramaut National Council” during the coming period.

Saudi Arabia pushed a number of forums and local coalitions demanding the administration of the people of Aden for their city, “the Aden Board of Directors”, and the removal of the camps of the armed factions in order to preserve the security, stability and the general tranquility of citizens away from armed manifestations.

The so-called ” Sons of Aden Coalition ” appeared, in a statement, calling for granting the sons of the city self-management, taking advantage of the killing of the child Haneen Al-Bakri by one of the STC gunmen on the night of Eid al-Adha while she was in her father’s car in the Mansoura area.

The coalition called for granting the people of Aden their right to manage the city, maintain its security and evacuate it of camps and armed factions, referring to the regional factions coming from the mountains of Dhalea and Yafa districts.

The statement stressed the need to get Aden out of the quagmire of chaos, bullying, lawlessness and the militarization of civilian life.

The statement blamed the Saudi-led coalition countries for deterioration of security, stability and public tranquility in Aden.

It also held the pro- coalition government, responsible for assassinating innocent people and for not providing them with protection and reducing acts of thuggery in Aden on a daily basis.

The call for an autonomous administration of Aden by its sons came after the demand of the Adani Cultural Forum last weekend to remove the camps belonging to the coalition factions from the city after the terrible incidents.

The STC factions carried out a campaign to confiscate weapons from non-loyalists in Aden, especially those belonging to the Dera Al-Wattan Forces, which were recruited by Saudi Arabia from the people of Aden and extremist Salafist elements, which has controlled the Sha’ab city, the largest district of Aden, since the beginning of this year.
