KHARTOUM, June 26 (YPA) – Clashes have resumed between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), on Monday, in the vicinity of the headquarters of the Central Reserve Command south of Khartoum.
The army forces shelled gatherings belonging to the RSF’s elements east of the Manshia bridge, east of the Sudanese capital Khartoum, and aerial bombardment and heavy artillery shelling on some sites in Halfaya, north of Khartoum.
The army said in a statement that the RSF attacked the Sudanese police reserve center at their headquarters south of Khartoum, stressing that the army forces repelled the attack and inflicted heavy losses in life and destroyed a number of combat vehicles.
For their part, the RSF responded with ground anti-aircraft aircraft to the overflights south of Omdurman and west of the capital.
Two army’s planes shot down, the RSF said, adding that the armed forces suffer from severe shortages of food, weapons and ammunition due to the siege imposed on them.
Earlier, the United States announced that it had postponed talks aimed at stopping the violence in Sudan, because they “do not achieve the desired success in their current form.”
Saudi Arabia and the United States brokered ceasefire agreements between the Sudanese army and RSF during talks in the Saudi city of Jeddah. But press reports have monitored violations by both sides.
Fighting has wreaked havoc in the capital and led to widespread violence in Sudan’s western Darfur region and more than 2.5 million people fleeing their homes.
