Saudi Arabia includes Mahra, Shabwa to “Hadramout Council”

HADRAMOUT, June 21 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia began, on Wednesday, arrangements for the post-announcement of the Hadramout Council, in a move that may reduce the influence of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), which is loyal to the UAE.

Southern media reported, quoting sources in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, that the Saudi ambassador to the pro-coalition government, Muhammad Al Jaber, made contacts with leaders from the provinces of Mahra and Shabwa and asked them to prepare to participate in the Hadramout Council.

The sources indicated that the Saudi ambassador’s communication with the sheikhs of Mahra and Shabwa comes within the framework of arrangements to complete the establishment of what it describes as the “Hadramout region,” which includes these provinces.

Ambassador Al Jaber supervised the formation of the “Hadramout National Council”, which currently includes the Hadrami majority, provided that it is expanded to include representatives from other provinces such as Socotra.

Saudi Arabia’s arrangements after the declaration of Hadramout are an indication of its decision to proceed with reducing the influence of the STC, which is loyal to Abu Dhabi.
