Saudi journalist sparks wide wave of controversy on Yemen south

ADEN, June 20 (YPA) – A Saudi journalist sparked on Tuesday a wide wave of controversy in Yemeni circles in southern Yemen, in conjunction with the sensitive conditions the country is going through, as a result of the increasing economic collapse in the country.

Abdullah Al-Hatilah, assistant editor-in-chief of the official Okaz newspaper, said on Twitter” the Yemeni Prime Minister Maeen Abdul-Malik returns to Aden to carry out his usual duties amidst a full and unprecedented reception, and among the priorities of his tasks will be to address power outages in the interim capital, Aden,” However, Al-Hatilah deleted the tweet after more than 18 hours had passed, which sparked many inquiries about the reasons to delete the tweet.

The deleted Saudi journalist’s tweet sparked a wide wave of confusion and controversy among Yemeni circles in southern and eastern Yemen.

on the other hand, the political and military analyst, Khaled Al-Nasi, who is loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), considered that the return of Maeen Abdul-Malik to Aden “against” the will of the southern people.

Al-Nasi said on Twitter “Maeen’s return will not change the bitter reality that the southerners live in.”

“Maeen will return to practicing his corruption, lies and deceit against the southerners,” he adding. “The electricity may improve for days, then the situation will return to worse.”

Al-Nasi refuted the allegations that “Maeen returned to Aden based on the terms of the STC.
Al-Nasi criticized the hesitation of the leaders of the STC, in confronting the corruption of a “Maeen’s government” by abandoning the decision to stop the supply of revenues to the Central Bank, which has been issued by the head of Saudi-formed Presidential Council, Rashad Al-Alimi.
