Local authority in Marib condemns coalition’s crimes of abduction, torture of women

MARIB, June 16 (YPA) – Local authority in Marib governorate on Friday condemned the arbitrary arrests of women by Saudi-led coalition forces in Marib and the inhumane violations they are subjected to in prisons.

In a statement, the local authority considered the kidnapping, enforced disappearance and torture of Egyptian citizen Sahar Ragab Abdel Mohsen in the Political Security prison in Marib for five years, is a crime that breach human values, tribal customs and international conventions.

The local authority pointed out that the crimes of the Islah party’s authority against detainees and prisoners, which result in repeated deaths, do not reflect the values, customs and morals of Maribi society as much as they reflect the militia behaviors.

The statement called on the United Nations and human rights and humanitarian organizations to carry out their duty and responsibilities in stopping the crimes of the Islah militia against the abducted women, and obliging them to immediately and unconditionally release the detainees, and respect international laws and conventions and humanitarian norms.
