Fisheries Ministry applauds efforts to rescue “Safer ship”, protect maritime environment

SANAA, June 01 (YPA) – The Ministry of Fisheries in the Sanaa government welcomed the arrival of the Dutch ship to Ras Issa port in Hodeida province to rescue the floating crude oil reservoir “Safer ship”.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry praised the efforts made to secure the floating tank and avoid an oil spill and an environmental disaster in the Red Sea.

The Ministry appreciated the role of the supervisory committee in implementing the urgent maintenance agreement and evaluating the floating tank to unload it and spare the region the largest environmental disaster.

The statement confirmed the Ministry’s keenness on facilitating and speeding up the rescue of the Safer ship and ensuring safe transportation and non-leakage of oil.

The Ministry urged the need to work together to prevent marine pollution and preserve the marine environment for future generations, stressing the importance of the Red Sea and its natural resources.
