Southern leader warns of return of bloody events of 1986 in Aden

ADEN, May 29 (YPA) -The Head of the Southern Civil Forces Rally, Abdul Karim al-Saadi, warned of the return of the bloody events of January 13, 1986 in the city of Aden, accusing the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia of “preparing a failed model” in those areas.

“The ambiguous rhetoric that adapt the term “restoration of the state” is a discourse that only expresses the desire of some to own property by demanding a return to the last failed model of the state in the south, which is the model of January 13, 1986,” Al-Saadi said in a series of tweets on Monday, referring to the South Yemen Civil War that started on that date.

“What is the state to be restored in the discourse of some southerners?”, al-Saadi asked, noting that “southern Yemen has been followed by a number of political systems after every coup or political or regional conflict.”

“Political elites and components exploit the suffering of the people in the southern provinces in order to reach goals that do not differ much in form and content from those reached by the southern regions after each southern massacre”, he said.

Al-Saadi called on the people of the southern governorates to restore their right to express themselves in accordance with legally recognised forms.
