UAE-backed militia storms government building in Shabwa

SHABWA, May 05 (YPA) – The UAE-backed militia stormed a government building in the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa governorate, and turned it into its own military barracks on Thursday.

According to local sources in the city, the “Shabwa Defense” militia affiliated with the UAE stormed the headquarters of the “High Election Commission”, following the arrival of commander of support forces in the Saudi-led Coalition, Sultan Al-Buqami to Ataq, along with commander in the “Afash” party, Saghir bin Aziz, the chief of staff of pro-coalition ministry of defense.

The sources pointed out that the elements of “Shabwa Defense”, came on board a number of military and armored vehicles, and stormed the headquarters of the High Elections Committee, under the allegations of securing the city.

It is worth mentioning that the arrival of the Saudi commander to Shabwa, to rearrange the militants of the Islah Party under the name of “Shield of the Nation” after Saudi meetings with the military leaders of Islah who were expelled by the UAE militia after violent confrontations in Ataq during August last year.

The city of Ataq and the rest of Shabwa’s oil districts, which are under the control of the UAE militia, which brought them from the western coast and the areas of Dhalea and Yafae, are witnessing unprecedented security chaos.
