Sanaa, UN discuss developments related to peace process in Yemen

SANAA, May 03 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sanaa government, Hisham Sharaf, discussed with, Hans Grundberg, the UN envoy for Yemen, developments in the peace process and lifting the suffering of the Yemeni people.

In a meeting, the minister affirmed that the leadership in Sanaa, from the center of power and supported by the people, extends its hand towards a just and honorable peace for the Yemeni people.

Sharaf explained that the ongoing consultations between Sanaa and Riyadh, backed the good efforts by Oman, should be translated into practical and tangible steps that the Yemeni people feel like, through the return of normal commercial movement without any restriction or condition for Hodeida port and Sanaa airport, as well as paying the salaries of all state employees without exception or discrimination, which will contribute to alleviating the suffering of employees who have been deprived of their right for many years.

He stressed the importance of sending positive messages by the Security Council to support the good efforts towards achieving peace in Yemen, to prepare the climate to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement.

For his part, Grundberg said that there is a great opportunity for a comprehensive cease-fire leading to a complete peaceful political settlement, noted that the Yemeni people deserve all support after the suffering it has gone through.
