ABYAN, April 30 (YPA) – Sheikhs and tribes of Abyan province, south of Yemen, are preparing to receive a tribal delegation coming from the capital Sanaa.
According to activists on social media, this a move would be the biggest blow to the Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias in the province’s most important stronghold, which represents the eastern gate of Aden.
The activists from Abyan circulated pictures showing equipment in the city of Khanfar, on the outskirts of Aden, which sheikhs from the senior tribes of Abyan will receive the delegation, accompanied with, Faisal Rajab, who served as a former commander of the Fourth Military Region.
Receiving the delegation would represent a strong blow to the STC , which has been trying for months to control over Abyan, as it is currently preparing for a political conference under the banner of “south-south dialogue” after its failure to subdue the most important provinces militarily.
The arrangements for the popular reception of the Sanaa delegation are part of the messages that the Abyan tribes trying to convey to the STC militias, which has sought to seize power in the south to marginalize them out of spite for their positions since the eighties of the last century, when a number of sheikhs issued statements about their refusal to target Yemeni unity.
Sanaa’s decision to release Faisal Rajab came as a tribute from SAyyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi to the sheikhs of Abyan who arrived a few days ago in Sanaa after the southern political and military forces abandoned Rajab.
