Hezbollah: There are advantages to choosing president for Lebanon

BEIRUT, April 29 (YPA) – The Deputy Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, confirmed that there are advantages to choosing Lebanon’s president.

Sheikh Qassim said in an exclusive interview with the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, “All foreign countries are convinced that they are unable to impose a presidential choice on the Lebanese.”

He confirmed that the Hezbollah supported Minister Sleiman Franjieh’s candidacy for his national and practical qualifications in the interest of Lebanon, as well as for having additional support emanating from an external conviction represented by France of the need to reach a settlement.

“It is day after day that the positive aspects of electing a president for the republic are increasing,” Qassem added.

He stated that the implementation of the Iranian-Saudi agreement is taking place at an accelerated pace, indicating that Lebanon “must benefit from the end of a decade of tension and instability in the region that began in 2011.”

“These settlements are positive indicators that we must invest in as much as possible,” he said.
