SHABWA, April 10 (YPA) – Armed confrontations broke out on Monday among the UAE-backed armed factions in the Balhaf Gas facility in the coastal Rudum area of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.
According to local sources in the area, the confrontations broke out between the so-called “Shabwa Defense” militia and members of the “Shabwani Elite”, who are still working as guards in the facility.
The sources affirmed that the clashes came after the departure of some Emirati soldiers on a number of armored vehicles from the facility, which has been suspended since the Emirati forces took control of the facility in 2016, towards Mukalla Airport in Hadramout.
The leadership of the Saudi forces is in the process of handing over a facility of Balhaf to the so-called “Dara al-Watan Forces” that the Saudi officers formed from extremist Salafist groups, which got training in Saudi territory during the past months.
