ADEN, April 06 (YPA) – A senior commander loyal of the Saudi-led coalition was killed on Thursday in Lahj province, south of Yemen.
Local sources said Saleh Al-Sayed Al-Yafei, a UAE-backed security director of Lahj, died in mysterious circumstances, with the escalation of rivalry with Saudi forces in Lahj and Aden.
The operation came amid suspicions among the leaders of the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia, that it was a silent assassination.
The STC’s leaders suggested that the death of Al-Sayed was caused by poison, according to a process carried out by Saudi intelligence, amid demands for an autopsy to find out the real cause.
The announcement of the death of the leader, Saleh Al-Sayed Al-Yafei, was met with overwhelming joy among the activists of the Islah party, who demanded the release of dozens of kidnapped and detained people from Aden, Lahj and Taiz, in addition to the vendors in the prisons of “Fifth Brigade” militia, and the return of lands and property of citizens in Aden and Lahj confiscated by force of arms.
