NATO Secretary General: Finland officially to join NATO on Tuesday

WORLD, April 04 (YPA) – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Finland will formally join NATO and expressed his hope that Finland’s neighbor, Sweden, will join in the coming months.

“Finland will become a full member of the alliance from Tuesday and will participate in all its meetings,” he said, announcing that “Finland will provide the alliance with trained forces, equipment and a large number of reserve forces.”

“Our land border with Russia will be doubled with Finland’s accession to the alliance,” he said, adding: “We have not yet seen any change in Russia’s nuclear position and we are watching the situation cautiously.”
