Russia welcomes prisoner swap deal between Sanaa, coalition-backed parties

WORLD, March 23 (YPA) – Moscow welcomed the prisoner swap deal in Geneva between Sanaa and Saudi-led coalition was signed under the supervision of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

In a statement published on Thursday on its website, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed its hope that this agreement will be implemented practically on the ground as soon as possible.

The Russian Foreign Ministry noted its belief that “significant progress in this area will help build confidence and create a favorable atmosphere for the establishment of a full national dialogue with the participation of all the main political forces in Yemen under the auspices of the United Nations, and ensure sustainable normalization of the situation in this friendly Arab country.”
