SOCOTRA, March 20 (YPA) – A number of Emirati commercial companies have looted dozens of rare trees and marine life on the occupied island of Socotra of Yemen.
Environmental specialists on the island said on Monday that the so-called “Environmental Protection Authority office in Socotra” has become an umbrella for looting and taking out rare tree and marine life samples from the island over the past years, without the preservation and documentation of the property rights of the island.
They emphasized that the organizations concerned with the environment did not issue any results of research and studies of tree and marine life samples on the preservation and documentation of Yemeni property rights.
The UAE transported dozens of trees, birds and rare marine life, including long-lived turtles, and settled them in the Emirates, in the largest scraping process and looting of the Socotra environment, in addition to a number of important Socotra antiquities and documents.
