Fierce clashes break out in Abyan

ABYAN, March 18 (YPA) – Fierce clashes erupted on Saturday among the Saudi-led coalition’s armed factions in the center of Zanjibar city, the provincial capital of Abyan, southern Yemen.

Local sources affirmed that the confrontations among the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias came In the middle of a popular market for selling Qat in the city of Zanzibar, following disputes over market taxes.

The clashes coincided with “Saleh al-Sayyid,” a staff of the ground forces, making a field visit to the so-called Third Support Brigade in the STC in Abyan.

Abyan has witnessed the collapse of the security situation in all its districts, which is suffering from a bloody conflict between the coalition factions.
