Recruits killed by al-Qaeda attack in Shabwa

SHABWA, March 14 (YPA) – Six recruits, from the so-called Shabwa Defense militia backed by UAE, were killed and others wounded in an attack waged by al-Qaeda elements in Abyan province, south of Yemen.

According to media outlet loyal to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) reported that a large number of terrorists launched an attack on a military barracks belonging to the “Fifth Brigade of Shabwa Defense” militia in Safra point in Osaylan district.

The elements of the “Al-Qaeda” organization and Islah Party’s militia had vowed in a previous statement to transfer military operations from Abyan to Shabwa in response to the so-called Second Operation Arrows of the East that launched by STC militias to control the two provinces.

The STC militia had suffered heavy losses among its leaders and recruits as a result of the IED war and the military attacks carried out by al-Qaeda elements against in the districts of al-Mahfad, Mudiyah and Lawdar in Abyan.
