SYRIA, 02 (YPA) – Syria’s Foreign Minister, Faisal Mekdad, said on Thursday that his country rejected the practices of some countries that exploit the titles of human rights.
In his speech to the 52nd session of the Human Rights Council, he stressed the importance of the Human Rights Council’s follow-up to the effects of terrorism on human rights.
“The earthquake disaster deepened the harsh conditions that the country has been going through for 12 years, doubling the suffering of the Syrians,” Mekdad added, “the devastation caused by the earthquake did not move the consciences of some countries that have always claimed humanity and did not even hesitate to politicize this natural disaster.”
He said, “The immoral, inhuman and illegal blockade has caused enormous human suffering, and coercive measures have impeded the provision of requirements for humanitarian operations and emergency response.”
Mekdad noted that the government “urgently launched an emergency response plan at the national level to deal with the repercussions of the disaster and appealed to countries and international organizations to support the affected areas.”
The minister stated that the Syrian government has affirmed its commitment and readiness to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who be in need throughout the country.
