STC militias close ways leading to Maashiq Palace in Aden

ADEN, Feb. 26 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia closed on Sunday the ways leading to the gate to Maashiq Presidential Palace, in the city of Aden.

Media sources said that “Al-Saeiqa Forces” affiliated to the head of the STC, Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, closed the gate to Palace, which is the residence of the Riyadh-formed Presidential Council and the coalition-backed government in Crater city, and prevented employees from entering.

The sources added that the “Security Belt” militia of the STC cordoned off the streets and roads leading to Maashiq Palace, with various military vehicles, in a dangerous escalation that threatens to explode the situation between the STC and the Saudi forces in central Aden.

The sources pointed out that the militia closed most of the main streets in Aden, amid the heavy deployment of vehicles in the city.

On the other hand, the leadership of the Saudi forces mobilized its recruits in the so-called Nation Shield Forces belonging to the Salafist groups, which have arrived in Aden early this month, and announced the lifting of combat readiness in anticipation of any confrontations with the STC’s elements.

This came after the statements of Al-Alimi, who announced the deportation of the southern issue, which led to angry reactions among the leaders of the STC.
In a statement, STC accused Al-Alimi of coup against the political partnership, according to what he called “Riyadh consultations.”
