WORLD, Feb. 24 (YPA) – Factions loyal to the Turkish army cut down about 2,500 fruit trees in the occupied countryside of Afrin in northwestern Syria.
This comes weeks after a group of Ahrar al-Sharqiya factions cut down 85 olive trees in the village of Qibarieh, located in the center of Afrin.
According to local residents, members of the Sham Legion faction cut down about 2500 olive trees and various trees, belonging to the indigenous people of “Burj Haidar” and “Basoufan” of the Shirawa district in Afrin countryside.
Since its occupation in 2018, the Turkish army and its factions have practiced various types of violations against the indigenous residents of Afrin, including kidnappings, theft of property, destruction of vegetation and bulldozing of archaeological hills.
