Gas production in Algeria to increase by 10 billion cubic meters

WORLD, Feb. 24 (YPA) – The gas production of Algeria will increase by 10 billion cubic meters starting in 2024, said Miloud Mdjelled, the head of economic studies at the Ministry of Energy and Mines in Algiers said

“Algeria’s great achievements since 1971 have tripled fuel production, and production is about 1,500 barrels per day,” Miloud Mdjelled, added. This made the national electricity coverage rate up to 99%, and gas up to 65%.”

He noted that $42 billion has been allocated to develop Sonatrach’s research and exploration operations between 2023 and 2027.

According to him, Sonatrach concluded several contracts with international partners, worth up to $ 6 billion, which will allow oil production to be raised from 190 million tons of oil equivalent to 210 million tons of oil equivalent.

Gas production will also rise to more than 10 billion cubic meters, which will meet all demands, according to An-Nahar.

He pointed out that Prime Minister Ayman bin Abdul Rahman will inaugurate, on Thursday, an important oil field in the city of Hassi Messaoud.
