SHABWA, Feb. 23 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia is seeking to overthrow the UAE-affiliated governor of Shabwa, Awad al-Wazir al-Awlaki, according informed political sources.
The sources said that the Saudi plan came after al-Awlaki refused to hand over some military sites to the so-called Nation Shield Forces established by Riyadh including the Salafist groups in some areas of the province.
The sources indicated that the leadership of the Saudi forces in Aden seeking to transfer the conflict from the districts of Wadi Hadramout to Shabwa, after ensuring that the “UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia without advance towards the districts of the Wadi, and announcing the recruitment of about 20 thousand by the Saudi-affiliated “Hadramout Tribes Alliance.”
The sources indicated that Saudi Arabia seeking to nominate Abdul Qawi Lamrouq, deputy governor loyal to the Islah party, and the head of the so-called Unified Alliance for the sons of Shabwa, Ahmed bin Ajrum, succeed the UAE-backed governor, Awad Al-Wazir.
The leaders of the STC in Shabwa rejected the Saudi moves towards Ataq city of Shabwa, amid threats to blow up the situation.
