UAE carries out new displacement of people of Abd al Kuri Island

SOCOTRA, Feb. 21 (YPA) – The UAE forces have launched a new displacement operation against the people of Abd al-Kuri Island, 133 km away, in the occupied Yemeni province of Socotra Archipelago.

Local sources said, “The UAE is carrying out intensive military actions in the Island, which is the strategic area located towards the Horn of Africa and the Gulf of Aden, and supervising international navigation routes in the Indian Ocean to the Horn of Africa and Bab al-Mandab,” without mentioning the nature of those actions that came after the completion of the establishment of a military base in the past November.

The sources suggested that the UAE started building new military depots to displace a number of people outside the island of Abd al-Kuri, 120 km, from the city of Hadiboh, the capital of Socotra, as part of its plans that aimed at destroying the Yemeni identity through its various activities carrying out in Socotra.

The Emirati violations against the people of Socotra have multiplied as a result of UAE’s ambition to fully control the Socotra archipelago, after normalization with the Zionist entity in August 2020, it made Socotra a Zionist military base, under the pretext of confronting potential Iranian threats in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea.

In November 2021, the UAE established a joint military center with the Israeli Navy on Abd al-Kuri Island, for maritime surveillance towards the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Horn of Africa.
The Israeli naval experts since began installing the surveillance and radar systems associated with the small spy submarines on Abd al-Kuri Island, which was renamed “Kelmeh” according to aerial photos of Google Maps.

The Maritime Control Center in Abd al-Kuri is linked to the joint Emirati-Israeli operations room located in the “Ras Qattainan” area”, southwest of Socotra.

The first displacement process against the people of Abd al-Kuri came before the UAE established a sea port to receive military ships on the island, including 6 oil sectors, as well as the construction of the military runway was completed at the end of March 2022 and worked to settle some of them in the Qusa’ir area of Hadramout.
