Sanaa renews its call to keep Hajj away from politicization

SANAA, Feb. 21 (YPA) – Deputy Minister of Guidance and Hajj and Umrah Affairs, in Sanaa, Fouad Naji, called for keeping Hajj from politicization and working to alleviate the suffering of Yemeni pilgrims due to the intransigence and requirements of the Saudi side and its tools.

He said in a statement on Tuesday that the suffering of the Yemeni pilgrims to perform the Hajj and Umrah is very great, including the requirement of the Saudi party and its tools to obtain passports from Aden, and this costs them exorbitant sums.

“The costs of the Hajj amounted to 3 million Yemeni riyals, three times more than they were before the aggression,” the statement added.

Naji called on Saudi Arabia to open land and air ports to facilitate the passage of pilgrims as usual, and to keep this file away from politicization.

He also called on the Saudi regime to reconsider the number of Yemeni pilgrims, as it does not allow more than 24 thousand people out of 40 million people.
