Tariq Saleh receives painful economic blow by stripping him of port of Mocha

ADEN, Feb. 18 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) has decided to strip Tariq Saleh, the commander of pro-UAE factions on the western coast, of his most important sources of income in a move described as “revenge.”

Minister of Transport in pro-coalition government issued a new decision to organize the Red Sea Ports Authority, which includes the appointment of a chairman and deputy to the authority.

The decision named Bassam al-Sunaidi, who is outside Tariq’s entourage, as head of the authority, and Abdul Malik al-Sharabi, who is the director of the port of Mokha as his deputy.

The decision coincides with the start of commercial ships to change their destination towards the port of Hodeida instead of the port of Aden, which indicates the STC’s attempt to acquire the port’s revenues by joining the Red Sea Corporation in Aden, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Transport.
