STC militias imprison journalist in Abyan
ABAYN, Feb. 16 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia took a journalist in Abyan province to one of its secret detention facilities in the province on Thursday.
According to human rights sources, Nasser Al-Hamedi, the head of the STC in Sarar Yafea district, assaulted the former media director, Munir Ali Mansour Al-Omari, for documenting the director of electricity, Sarar Salah Shaif,’s accusations to Al-Hamedi of interfering in electricity tasks and embezzling amounts allocated to the district’s electricity at a local meeting.
The sources confirmed that Al-Hamedi directed his escorts, after leaving the meeting room, to loot the phone of Al-Omari, or remove what was recorded on the phone.
Al-Omari was beaten in front of the attendees and kidnapped by members of the “security belt” to be imprisoned in one of the STC-run prisons in the district, according to the sources.
