WOELD, Feb. 14 (YPA) – At least 3 people were killed and 5 others wounded after a gunman opened fire on the campus of Michigan State University in the northern United States on Monday evening, authorities said.
Police said the injured, some of whom suffered “life-threatening injuries”, had been taken to hospital for treatment. Other reports spoke of a “large number of injuries”.
The first news of the shooting came around 8:30 p.m. local time.
According to the Police, the suspect remained at large, adding in a series of statements on Twitter that he was “walking around” and described him as a “short and hooded black man”.
Campus police released surveillance camera images showing the suspect entering a building.
“Community members on and off campus should continue to take shelter in their places,” she said. The police continue to respond,” said Chris Rozman, interim deputy chief of the campus police department, adding that “hundreds” of officers were involved in the search for the suspect.
